About the Business:

We are one of the major sushi suppliers and a Bento Sushi franchise that has been operating in Moncton for over 7 years, supplying premium sushi ingredients, salads, and appetizers to over 6 supermarkets such as Sobeys and Atlantic Superstores in their sushi koisks throughout the year. As the business is expanding we are in desperate need of a Chef, with the required skills and experience that would enhance our business operations and marketing performance.

 

Role Overview:

We’re eagerly looking for a Chef to assist with the operation of our business. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in guiding our cooks in following Bento Sushi’s new menus and  creating new recipes and products that satisfy our customers’ increasing demands. Your passion and commitment to managing cooks and supervising creation of new items will contribute to the overall success of our business.

 

Major Job Duties:

Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several store locations in an establishment

Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards

Order food and kitchen supplies

Create new recipes

Schedule, train, and evaluate team members

 

Estimate food requirements and estimate food and labor costs

Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff

Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods

Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions

Plan menus and requestion food and kitchen supplies.

Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

Job Requirements:

Skill Requirements:

High school diploma is mandatory.
Culinary school diploma or certificate or equivalent credentials and training are required OR a minimum of 5 years of experience as a chef or in a supervisory role in larger kitchens
Expert knowledge of cooking techniques (e.g., sautéing, baking, grilling, sushi preparation, etc.)
Ability to follow and create recipes consistently
Food safety certification or on the job-training of food safety
Specialized experience in Sushi
Speak and understand English
Ability and experience in managing kitchen staff and assigning duties
Complying with health regulations and kitchen safety protocol
Ability to work under pressure, fast-paced environment
Ability to standing for extended periods
